To help introduce our new Production Manager to the world we gave him our quick-fire Q&A.

1. Where did you grow up? I grew up in Palmerston North before moving to Otaki with my wife in 1997 to start a family.

2. What attracted you to the work at Urban Group? It’s a family-friendly company that has the opportunity to grow into something really great. It inspired me – I wanted to be part of this.

3. What are your day-to-day responsibilities? Streamline production process, working with health and safety, ordering and maintaining stock… and anything else I am asked to do!

4. Does any of your past work help here? I had a mechanical background before shifting into the concrete industry after moving to Otaki. Here I moved from general worker to maintenance engineer, to moulder to concrete tester. Then it was in the office ordering and cost tracking before moving up to production planning and contract management, where I gained experience on large infrastructure jobs throughout New Zealand.

5 Any interests outside of work? First and foremost, target shooting. I volunteer at the Levin Miniature Rifle Club, where I have been voted president for the last four years.

Welcome Chris – great to have you here!
