The Royal treatment

While having only initially been selected to carry out only the balustrade work at the Royal Thai Embassy, our strong working relationship with Fletcher Construction resulted in us supplying much more.

The refurbishment of the embassy building was a unique project. Urban Group’s technical team, alongside Unex Systems, liaised with the project architects to provide an ideal balustrade solution here. This result had to be in keeping with the distinctive architecture of the building while complying with current regulations.

To comply with anti-climbing standards semi-frameless glass panes were used behind the main balustrade structure. The top rail was also coated using a new technology system, one that yields an extraordinary simulated wood grain. As we were dealing with an existing building we used site-specific engineering practices to detail the balustrade attachment to the concrete substrate.

Following our success with the supply and installation of the balustrades Fletcher went on to engage us to supply the security entrance gates, fencing and mechanical plant louvre screens as well.
